B vitamins are a group of water-soluble vitamins that play important roles in cell metabolism. The B vitamins were once thought to be a single vitamin, referred to as vitamin B (much as people refer to vitamin C). Later research showed that they are chemically distinct vitamins that often coexist in the same foods. In general, supplements containing all eight are referred to as a vitamin B complex. Individual B vitamin supplements are referred to by the specific name of each vitamin (e.g., B1, B ...

dosage and equivallancy Filed in Lortab
I recently, had my med changed from vicodin 7.5mg 5xqd to lortab 10-500mg tablet. 5xqd question is, "Is the lortab a higher dose of medication than the vicodin. Lortab and Vicodin both contain Hydrocodone, a synthetic opiate or opioid, as their narcotic analgesic. As such, your dosage strength increase is only in the amount of pills you are now taking, not in the opioid ingredient. Oxycodone, used in Percocets and OxyContin, is slightly stronger . . . a 5/325 Perc is equivalent to a 7.5 Lortab. ...

Equivalent dose of slow release for immediate release Filed in Nifedipine
a Dr. prescribes nifedipine 20mg slow release three times a day for a customes is it safe to give him/her 20mg of the immediate release three times a day I would suggest doing so, without their doctor's approval. Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker, which is most commonly used to help treat angina and replacing the time released medication with an immediate release could result in their getting too much of the medication at once, which could cause an overdose. http://www.prescriptiondr ...

Oramorph SR equivalent Kadian ER Filed in Oramorph
I have been on Oramorph SR 100mg 4 times a day for severe ongoing pain. Oramorph SR is unavailable right now so i was switched to Kadian ER 30 mg 1 time per day. Is this the correct equivalent? If not how much Kadian ER would be equivalent to Oramorph SR 100mg 4 times a day? thank you. They both contain Morphine as the active ingredient, so the dosage would be the same in either one. If you were taking 100mgs of the Oramorph, you'd need 100mgs of the Kadian. Who did the conversion? Your doc ...

LOSARTAN Hct EQUIV FOR BENICAR Hct DOSAGE Filed in Losartan
Husband, 64, is being switched to Losartan. I am concerned b/c of trying to match correct dose. Benicar dose was 20/12.5, Losartan will be 100/12.5. (haven't taken yet) From what I've read, the 50/12.5 sounds more like it -or should he request to take 50mg 2ce a day? I'm going to contact Dr regarding this, but thought I'd get some input from you experts first so I'll know what to ask and how. Other concern is he is dx'd with Afib and HBP and is on a slew of other meds: prazosin, nisoldi ...

US equivalent to Enantyum
Can anyone tell me what the US equivalent to Enantyum would be. I had dental surgery in Guatemala and was given 25mg tablets but running out. I'm hoping not to need them but want to keep my options open. Hi Jackie, Based on my research, Enantyum contains Dexketoprofen. I've read that ketoprofen would most likely be the equivalent in US. Ketoprofen is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Ketoprofen works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and ...

Tylenol PM or equivalent available in Belgium Filed in Diphenhydramine
I am an American living in Belgium and suffering from Fibromyalgia. I have both pain and sleeplessness. In the states I used a more generic Family Dollar Ibuprophen PM from time to time and it worked great. I cannot find anything like that here in Belgium as we don't really have drugstores as in the US where one can just scan all that is available. I have to go through a pharmacist here and there is a lot of difficulty in explaining what I am looking for. I am hoping someone can tell me if there ...
