When Does Loestrin 24 Become Effective?

I started loestrin 24 on the 5th day of my period and would like to know how long until it is effective. The nurse practitioner said one full packet of pills but that conflicts with almost everything else Ive heard or read.
Any advice/opinions/info appreciated.

I'm 15 I've been on loestrin24 for problems with my ovaries. I've been on it for 21 days but on the 20th day my bf ejaculated in me. I take it every day at the exact same time. Am I ok?

I wonder if being voluptuous has an effect on the chance of being pregnant before the recommended 10 days.

I just spoke with a nurse practitioner and was told after 10 days you are able to have unprotected sex but before then it is reccomended to use a back up birth control like condoms IF YOU HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX BEFORE THOSE 10 DAYSYOU HAVE A 50/50 CHANCE OF BEING PREGNANT!!! I was reccomended to continue taking my pill until i get to my "period days" and if i miss my period i might be welcoming a new addition to the family i am currently on my 3rd week so we will see what happens!!

i just turned 16, im still a virgin and i started using Loestrin 24 on March 21 bc i have a really heavy flow. I missed 1 day bc i was out. my last period was on March 5. my sweet 16 is on March 31. i want to know how long does the pill take to lighten and shorten my period?

Hello everyone I wanted to share my experience with loestrin. I had sex on the eighth day of taking it, it was my very first birth control pills. I started in late february. Well I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and he forgot to pull out. I was a little scared that there was a possibility of becoming pregnant. The whole time I didn't freak put though because that could and can mess with the menstrual cycle. Your mind is very powerful in that way. But what I'm here to tell anyone who wants to know the effectiveness of this pill should know it does work. In my case, I didn't get pregnant after taking the pills eight days, I took the pills exactly the same time everyday from the very first pill to today, 9:00 pm. That probably played a factor in preventing pregnancy. I didn't get bigger breasts or more or less acne. However, I did get moody, depressed, angry at little things and teared up easily and cried easily. I craved a lot of sweets. That's all I wanted everyone to know because I was a bit scared that I could be pregnant from only taking it eight days, but it is effective.

I STARTED TAKING THE PILL LAST MONTH AND FINISHED THE LAST PILL LAST SATURDAY AND STILL DIDNT GET MY PERIOD AND STARTED THE OTHER PACK ON SUNDAY AND I TOOK A PREGNANCY TEST AND IT CAME OUT I WAST AND TODAY IS TUESDAY AND STILL NO PERIOD IS THIS NORMAL PLEASE HELP???

Try yaz. I heard it's better for that. You can actually look it up online and see what side effects each type of birthcontrol method has. That's what I did, even though my face has broken out more, I am giving it one more month. I know that it takes the body a while to adjust so i'm going to see if it'll help. Good luck!

Hi, i was wondering how you have been since posting this question, i have the same exact question because me and my girlfriend got foolish a few minitues ago and actually "finished with a bang" LOL, but did you get pregnant after only tking it for 14 days? she's been on hers for just under 3 months now, what should we be expecting?? PLEASE RePLY!!! :(

I started Loloestrin fe 22 days ago. Last night I had unprotected sex that did not last long and he did not ejaculate in me. I know that cowpers fluid contains some seamon so I am worried that it might cause me to get pregnant since I have not been taking the pill for very long. Is that too less of a chance? Also when does ovulation occur on this pill?

So i am 100% sure that i have pcos and that's why i am taking loestrin, i haven't had my period in along time like over 10 months now .. i just wanna know how is this loestrin going to help me? And also will i loose weight or gain ?

OK, ive been on Loestrin for a couple of months... I had really horrible cramps and that is the reason I take it.. Ive just recently been talking to my boyfriend about having sex for the first time and we don't want to use a condom... I am a little nervous... I am 18 and I am not ready for a child. How effective is it from preventing pregnancies? I miss a pill here and there so does that lower my rate of not getting pregnant? Do I have to wait a few weeks if I miss a pill to have sex?

What if you dont always take loestrin24 at the same time? I try to take it every morning before I leave for school but sometimes I forget and take it when I get home at 3. Does the pill still work?

So, I started my period the night before I took my first pill in the pack of the birth control. My periods are very heavy, and I noticed that the second day of my period i wasn't bleeding, just very lightly spotting, this is not normal for me. I've continued to take them, it's been 4 days. Is this normal for the period to stop completely?

I started loestrin 24 fe in 1/9/2012..which is when I started my period..i just happened to see my obgyn the same day..if I have un protected sex will I become pregnant

i started to take lo lostrin fe since last wed. and until tomorrow will be in a week. if my boyfriend comes inside will i be ok, and wont be prego ever, if i taken it the same time every day, will it lost its effective if i am also taken other medicine such as abilify 2.5mg and 50 mg zoloft at the same times.

I am on my 2nd pack of loestrin 24 and I started taking the pill 2 - 3 days after my period started. I want to know if I'm safe to have unprotected sex and not have to worry about getting pregnant. I've been careful for the month I have been on it, I just want to know when I can start living a little worry free about this.

you're supposed to have protected sex while on antibiotics if on the pill. it can mess up the effectiveness. you need to wait at least a month after the use of antibiotics to have unprotected sex again.
