thought perhaps this a vet drug but unable to find there. pill size about the same as round bayer aspirin.

Found a match it's Phenobarbital 100 mg, is a barbiturate, first marketed as Luminal by Friedr. Bayer et comp. It is the most widely used anticonvulsant worldwide and the oldest still commonly used.
