Hey I know these words don't help much but I'm in the same boat. But let me tell you to hear someone else say it makes you want to reach out and tell them not to give up. I often think my 3 teenage kids are keeping me alive. They would be heartbroken along with my 5 sisters. I don't think I have the guts to actually follow through with it. Though I've thought if I had a gun it would be easier. You hear these different success stories (not all but some). And just maybe you 'll find a combo of meds that works for you. Good Luck I'll pray for you.

Opana ER takes a few days to build up in your system to feel the full effect. I think they work fairly well for my pain and I suffer from Chronic pain 24/7, it gets so bad sometimes that nothing helps! The Opana is a fairly new drug, and it really does work, but you don't feel the groggy effects like you do with Percocet! I too take the Percocet 10/325 for breakthrough pain, I wish they made the Perc's to last longer, but they don't! I know they have another drug that is strong than the Percocet's but my doctor won't give them to me, as they are addictive. ALL pain killers have the tendency to be addictive, its up to YOU to prevent yourself from being addictive to anything! I have been taking the Percocet's for over 3 years now, they don't work as well as they did when I first started. I am taking (2) 10/325 every 3-4 hours when I am not taking the Opana's! Regardless of what you take, your body builds a tolerance to them, and you have to keep taking more and more of the narcotics to feel any relief..

Get the DREMEL2000, it cots around $49.99 & you can get it at Wal-mart for sure or Home Depot. it looks like an electric screw driver. An all the tips can only connect to the front so you won't be able to make a mistake there. Inn the box it comes with 12-15 attachments. With the 2000 stores it has the easy unlock tool.it also comes with a unlock wrench , it has two ways to unlock the tip . Read the directions(important)! The only attachment you need mto put on the tip is the pink round cylinder, its pink ish or light orange its the only one that comes in the box.DON'T TOUCH THE MAROON SAND PAPER!(IMPORTANT) JUST THE ONE I SAID.NOW GRAB THE PILL a10th of an inch with needleNOSE pliers when you smash the little bit of the pill cuz the pill is like plastic so the little piece smashes thin so you barely hold on to anything. Then my friend uses A plastic tupperware bowl or a high enuff plastic bowl to stick yet pliers and Dremel2000 in which is not really that big grind away on 1 speed, keep on grinding all around with both hands inside.it turns to fine powder the leftover Is the coating take that out with tweezers an easy befor snorting! You will get allot of powder.have fun.reply with questions

U can use theDREMELL TOOL to grind the new opama since its hard hard plastic!!!! Use the grinding tool!! NOT THE SANDING TOOL IT WILL GET SANDPAPER IN IT. USE THE GRINDING TOOL AND HOLD IT HARD WITH NEEDLE NOSEPLIERS AND SQUISH IT HARD WITH THE PLIERS SINCE ITS LIKE PLASTIC ANY WAY! THEN I USE A SHOE BOX TO GRIND INSIDE! REMEMBER USE THE GRINDING TOOL NOT THE SANDING TOOL.! THEN SNORT AWAY!!!!

Opana Er are now also reformulated so now we all lose. People that are in real pain are the ones that suffer the abusers dont care they can go to herion, crack, cocaine but us, the people that do have legit problems are now going to have to find a comination of break thru and long term medicine that works together and the withdrawals and FDA only care about the abusers not the REAL PEOPLE and abusers will go on but use well get ready for another long term pain solver and if you are like me, my doctor is gettting feed up because he hates to see his patients in pain and having no idea of what to prescribe because everyone is different, GOD BE WITH US! !!!

Kevin D-First of all THANK YOU for your dedication. I've been in chronic pain since September 12, 1995 so I'm feeling your pain. I think in alllll aspects of life, there are those 'few' that 'mis behave' and totally destroy it for the rest of us that really need help. Between medical, legal, food stamps, meedicaid, etc all that type of 'help' those who take advantage ruin it for those of us who really need it. As of tomorrow my doctor switched me from Percocet 10/325 to Percocet 15mgs without the tylenol because of the chronic, daily 24/7 nauseous feeling that I live with,& I think to just stop me from complaining about the nauseous/occasional vomit, they put me on yet another med, ondansetron 4X a day to help with the stomach issue(Ive now been on this ondansetron for 2 years!!) They are having me switch from the perc w/tylenol to w/out tylenol because of the chronic stomach issues,I have chronic kidney/bladder infections (worst yr was total of 12 infections) and now my skin and eyes are starting to yellow which after researching it myself online,I believe is liver disorders from the chronic use of tylenol. So anyways,,,,,,,I'm with you. I know where you are coming from and yes, I agree, the few bad apples just totally ruin it for us GOOD APPLES who just want a lil pain relief, and better QUALITY OF LIFE!!! I just want to note that I am in no way looking for any type of high, euphoric feeling or anything of that sort. I want and need pain relief (I know it will never go away 100% with or without pain meds) and a better quality of life!!!! I'm here with you and for you Kevin D and again I THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THOSE OF USE IN EMERGENCY NEEDS. I can't imagine it's a pleasant experience with that type of job (meaning you probably have witnessed some serious, not very 'pretty' situations. Thank You and BeSafe,TakeCare and BeWell

Hello,
Ive been on pain meds for my back since 2003. Oxycontin OC from Purde Pharma was awsome. Pain 2 out of 10, had energy, wasnt tired, took them every 8 hours as I am 260 lbs.
So here we go 2010 was it? the dumb asses that decide OUR fate and pain, decided the junkies (who will always find a high) are more important than us TAXPAYERS, moms and dads, who are in constant pain.
They switched from OC to OP to keep junkies from using. Well guess what, I had to stop taking them due to constant nausea, sick to my stomach, and under medicated. the 60 mg 3X a day was now not enuff and I had to go to 100mg 3X a day, and got sicker.

So MD switched me to MS04, you know the morpine that hasnt changed since WWI....
After a year I became sensative and itchy so onto OPANA. Let me say that I am still pissed at the powers that b for changing Oxycontin so now with Opana yea the pain is managed but like the MS04, I am always tired and sleep 1/2 to 3/4 of my day away, unlike Oxycontin OC pills, I was up 12 to 15 hours and slept good for 9 hours or so a day (sometimes less).

Opana now changed (from hexagon to round) as of end of march and low and behold, I am having the same problems as with oxy OP.
Dose not high enough, sick to my stomach, going through withdrawl, sooo tired and pain 9 out of 10.
I would say 10 of 10 but I can still crawl out of bed and drag myself up, seriously.
This sucks, I am a licensed Paramedic that will neverwork again due to a work injury, have 3 compressed vertebrae, 4 bulging discs, hairline fx in my neck, and L and R rotator cuffs still torn after numerous surgeries.
THANKS FDA< DEA... I went to work every day to help human kind and now when I need it I am treated like I dont count and am less important than the abusers who will always find their HIGH.
i do not crush, snort, shoot, etc... I take my meds ontime everyday. BUT I AM PENALIZED for what others do to their own bodies.
Yes it is a sickness, but changing the meds will not cure the problem, it just creates more damand. Kinda like proabition with booze did.
Sorry to ramble on but I am in pain, taking my breakthrough meds all the time (per MD) since long acting wont do it.

Now I am not a contributing member of society thanks to the FDA and the powers.

So for

I'm wondering FROM ANYONE ON THIS FORUM--Do pain doctors prescribe stuff like adderall, ritalin etc for help with getting through the day without being 'body dead' and no energy from the taking of prescribed medicines?? I have an appt with my pain doctor this week and was wondering how I should go about telling/asking my doctor about the lack of energy and concentration and just plain lack of lust for everyday life anymore. Sounds like the adderall ritalin etc would be the way to go but I'm wondering with all the scrutiny that pain doctors and clinics get these days if that is something that they would even consider? (just a note--I've never had an issue with addiction/asking for early refills/asking for more mgs/etc.I have 2sign a yearly contract with my clinic stating I will only get an type of pain meds from them or if example: go to the ER for a broken/sprained bone,I have to advise them within a 24 time frame of any meds that I have prescribed to me) Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.

KEVIN D--I see that you are a paramedic living in CP like most of us on this forum.I'd like your OPINION on a few things if you have the time....First,I've never snorted, inj ETC my pain meds, only taken them orally as prescribed, can I ask what snorting does to you vs taking them orally? Is it a more intense PAIN RELIEF but shorter life, or is it a quicker pain relief and still short lived or what?? I've read alot and I mean alot of postings on diff forums and so many CP sufferers do snort their pain meds. As far as you stating that you've seen ppl ODing ETC on your job, are you saying that snorting these pain meds can make you OD quicker,as far as taking the same amt of MGs of pain meds taken orally vs same amt of MGs snorted or injected?? I'm so confused, need help like most ppl here. I'd love to get off all of my meds, but since that is not likely to happen, I'd love your opinion since you are in the medical field what you would suggest I talk to my pain doctor about.I currently take methadone(for pain relief,I do not and have never used any street drugs, just my prescription pain meds, yes narcotics) 10mgs X4 per day and Percocet 10/325 max 6X per day. After being on these meds for so many years they hardly touch my pain.I'm not looking for a high of any kind,I'd like my QUALITY OF LIFE to get a lil better, thats all.In this financial crisis we are all living in,although I am currently living on a very small SSDI check each month,I am going to have to find at least some type of part time job to help pay for my monthly ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY medical bills which are currently approx $350-$500 per month. I would really value your opinion and I will take it as that---your opinion. Thanks for any help you can give to me Have a good day

I started on Oxycontin in 2004 due to a back and neck injury. When they switched from OC to OP I got sick, headaches and very little pain relief. My MD switched me to plain Morphine, but after a year Morphine is making me sick. my last dose on Oxy was 60MG 3X da, on Morphine 90MG 3X a day. On Opana 30 to 40MG 3X a day.

So anyway I was switched to Opana, I just noticed in my new precriptions that they are now round.
I went to ENDO web site and see that they bought the formula out and changed it as the Oxywas. Do not know the ingredient.
I do not crush, snort, shoot or abuse my meds. I am a retired injured on the job Paramedic and have see plenty of lives ruined by OD and death.
However I am now taking 40MG 4X a day for the same relief as my old 30MG 3X a day. I kid you not.
ENDO as PHARMA i hope you go broke, my MD will switch me to something else, hope its not from ENDO or PHARMA. Boycott these inconsiderate bastar__.

I've been taking Opana ever since it was re-legalized back in 2008-09 (oxymorphone was taken off the market entirely back in the 70's due to high abuse potential). Then, earlier this year, the only factory that produced Opana was closed down for safety reasons, reducing the availability of the Opana... right about the same time OCs were reformulated. So, MDs began switching their OC patients to Opana when Opana became much more difficult to come by. So the shortage has become so bad that the past several months I have been forced to take partial fills, forfeiting the remainder.

And guess what... they just announced that the same anti-abuse formulation that ruined the OCs is now being used in the production of the Opana Er's... yay!!!

My advice: Opana ER and IR do have generics available 7.5mg & 15 mg for Er, and 10 mg for IR). Most pharmacists don't know this, so you will have to request that your pharmacy order them in advance. This is the only way to get around the nasty reformulations of both meds.

Unfortunately, individuals paying out-of-pocket will still pay about $4/pill even for the generic oxymorphone. I was on Kadian a while ago, so I'm going to request the Ms Contin( if they haven't made that worthless yet), and hydromorphone for b/t. I was taking 3 x 40mg Opana daily, with no side effects, and no prns for b/t pain. Now, if my doctor is ok with mybe proposed switch, I will request a caffeine pump to be installed so I don't feel like a stoney-poney from the morphine/hydromorphine cocktail. In fact, I may need to ask my GP to put me back on Adderall to counteract the drowsy side-effects of the morphine... but only we CP patients can ever know the lengths one is made to go to in order to avoid the torture only we can know and understand.

"And she swallowed a spider to catch the fly..." Too few side effects? Well, let's see what we can do to get a new patent on a drug that already works so the junkies will be forced to turn to poison and violent, organized crime to get their fix.

I thought that the US believed in the theory of "innocent until proven guilty, so the innocent aren't made to sufree? Apparently, the same underlying principal does not apply to those of us who can't remember what a day without pain feels like.

I usually get Opana ER 15mg generic, since they don't have a coating on the outside they seem to kick it a bit faster, this month i could only find one pharm in Chicago area that had 15's so I took what I could get and they were brand name, I feel like the brand name one's aren't working as well. Anyone else have a similar experience?
