Am advised Eptoin 100 3 times daily for 2 years. When will get rid of the giddiness ?

Dear Kumar, I too have been an Epileptic since Yr.12 after an operation on my left thigh bone.I have no other problem.I take Eptoin100m.g. 3 times a day.Long term use definitely brings swollen soles,loss of feeling,less thinking power,high growth of hair,deterioration of muscle & bones leading to malformed fingers .....the story goeson.But do not stop your intake without consulting your Doc. Dear i do suffring from the same as i have MNC in my brain due to eating of cabbage i m taking 3 100 mg tablets at evening time from last 1 yr and i got the attack again aS DOCTOR HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS WILL ouccer any time when you have stress and low sleep. aswell when these warm will die. si i sujjust you to take tbs reguerly in a day as i do have 11 warm in my brain -98160-61111

Hi Kumar,
I had readed your problem and i have suffered with the same problem when im 25 years now iam 33 years. When iam 25 years i got fits and doctor's advise i am taking EPTOIN 100 MG 3 tablets daily in the night time but till now i did'nt got any side effect so as per my problem taking Eptoin will not get any side Effect. And i am employed at INDIA INFOLINE LIMITED as a Sales manager and can do all the efforts as my colleagues do.

Seizures of many types - tonic-clonic seizures are mostly suffered at later years. The general seizures are better as they dont cause severe damage to brain, and other neuro sensitive regions.

I suffered tonic clonic seizure at 33, even fractured my hand of violent movements during that. I was put on eption 300mg / day, life seems normal.

But after 1 year onwards, I got insomnia and it is still there after 6 years. I suffered another severe episode of seizure I voimited blood also, after stopping eption, on a neurologist advise. But again put on same dose.

So I continue till now and suffer bone loss, liver problem (SGPT levels rise), constipation and oflate suffering memory loss and confusion. I had to leave thriving career as stress is another factor that causes seizure if you have suffered once. so try to be calm.

This medicine is once started is forever, until you live, though not happily....life is harsh on me.

sir iam 23yr old person,my first fits of 20th feb2010 .doctor suggest to me take a eptoin100 and frisium10,im taking to this drug no problem.this drug im taking to last 15 months why side effects of this drugs in future?

My doctor advised me to gradually lower the dosage so that the sudden impact of leaving the medicine doesn't happen. He asked me to reduce from 300ER to 250 for a month the 200 for a month, then 150 a month, then 100 a month, then 50 a month and finally 0.

Hellow Sister, I am Ganesan, I too very worstly affected by chronic epilepsy. Better to stop such very old and severe side effect casued medicines. I consult with the Neuro Dr.Sankaranarayanan who is at Tambaram Doctor's plaza. Even they confirmed as Co-genital problem but still the medicines with heavy dosages I can manage because of my Neuro's suggessitions. He is very friendly with the patients.
Further more if u need any clarifications pls cnct me.

for the last 4 years i have been taking eption 100mg 2 tablets a day,if i leave taking them for more than 3 days i will feel uneasiness to avoid the same i further continue, i want to know when will i stop the medicine. please help me

It all started after my first deliery of my son at 23 when i used to stop speaking and stare at vacancy for a second.I used to take anxit from local doc. Then during my 2nd pregnancy 5th month i had a full blown seizure n fell down. The baby was fine n delivery was normal. After that they tried tegretol which didn't suit me . I was taking eptoin n epilex two tabs each for 16 yrs and every year will have one or two attacks so had to continue the tablets. But since sep'09 inspite of taking eptoin n epilex i had 2 seizures in a month so I decided to change the doc n doc decided to change the complete medicine to topomac100mg n frisium10 mg 2 but it was like every month 2 episodes ,so now the doc has introduced lacosam50mg. Is all this ok ? Is my brain in safe hands?

These Phenytoin drugs are not a curative. They only control to an extent.Try to trace the cause of your epilepsy (accident/smoking/drinking liquor) and address that. In case non of cited causes apply or nothing else is traceable as a cause do not worry the seizures will stop just as they came.

Good Afternoon Sir,My self is of 37 yrs of man, I get first epileptic attack in the year 2007. After that my EEG was done and my reports were normal. Doctor started 300 mg of eptoin along with Folic Acid of 5 mg. Since then, while on medicines i have,t got any attack. As such concerned doctor stopped my medicines. After Stopping of medicines, since 3 months i was normal. But one day in office I again attack. After that doctor again started my medicines and then since two years i got no attack. Again i came in contact with other neurologist, who told me that you have to take risk. As such you should reduce your dose month by month and then stop it. As per his advice in first month I continued with 300 mg of eptoin with 5 mg of folic acid, in second month i started 200 mg of eptoin along with 5 mg of folic acid and in the third month i started taking 100 mg of eptoin with 5 mg of folic acid and then i stopped with these medicines. As such after stopping with these medicines for one month i was alright. Then one night before diwali i got three attacks in the same night. Now neurologist has again started eption of 350 mg with folic acid of 5 mg. Now Sir, should i have to continue with these medicines for whole life. Is these medicines put any side effects on our married life
