Hi, I've recently had to go on Warfarin again after getting a 2nd DVT and P.E. I recently saw a troubling note next to a coffee substitute site that said to be careful with roasted Barley products as high doses of OPCs can cause potential bleeding issues. I found out that OPCs are found in a lot of things that we all love, such as Barley, Almonds, Dates, Etc.. Does anybody know of a web site that list all the items that contain OPCs and if they are hi or low with the amount.

Hi I've been on warfarin for 2 months now from blood clots and I'm planning on going out for my birthday , I haven't drank anything since I was diagnosed but I really want to enjoy myself .I know the recommend intake of alcohol is 3 units but I was just wondering if I had any more than that ( say 5 units altogether ) would I be able to lessen the effects of the alcohol thinning my blood by taking some vitamin k the day before, day of and after? Or even taking less mg that day? ## Hello, Emma! How are you? If you've had blood clots, it's really not safe to try to play around like this, it could put your life at risk. It is entirely possible to have a lot of fun for your birthday, without drinking. However, if your doctor has okayed your imbibing, then you definitely s...

I am on the following medication Warfarin , Aspavor and Co-Irbewin. can one use trepiline or other medication for burning feet ? ## Hello, Theo! How are you? The Atorvastatin in the Aspavor may increase the levels of Trepiline that you absorb, so caution should be used and you shouldn't take them together, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so, in which case they carefully calculate your dose to help keep you as safe as possible. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Trepiline/Amitriptyline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. My mother began taking Coumadin 2 wks ago. Her INR was 1.9 today, so it's progressing well toward a therapeutic level. Her doctor also increased the dosage of Metropolol when he added Coumadin. She reports that she's been feeling tired and "out of sorts" the past 2 days. She even took a nap today, which is unheard of! Does Coumadin cause generalized weakess and fatigue initially? ## Hello, Dee! How is your mom doing? To be honest, I'm more inclined to think that her symptoms are do to the higher dose of Metoprolol, it's very well known to cause such side effects. Others, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. Coumadin's typical side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding...

I take 3mg of warfarin and 4 mg on 3 days also I have started tramadol 100mg twice daily. Will the tramadol cause a problem with taking warfarin too? I also take slow release 5 HTP 200 g daily. I have fibromyalgia and depression and feel better whilst on tramadol not sure about 5HTP. Would be grateful of your opinion. Thank you. ## Hello, Goldie! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it;s always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am on warfarin and just crack from Mexico. Can I take this? ## My findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions between Warfarin and Sulfamethoxazole. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Using warfarin together with sulfamethoxazole may increase the risk of bleeding, especially if you are elderly or have kidney or liver impairment. You may need more frequent monitoring of your prothrombin time or INR by your doctor to safely use both medications. Call your doctor promptly if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, swelling, vomiting, blood in your urine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and her...

Can I take strepsils with warfarin? ## Hello, Tina! How are you? I am very sorry about the health problem you have. Which Strepsils formulation? Another night a piece of fish with asparagus etc. I am now in a panic, because I don't know what to stop or not? All I read is be consistant? Should I remove some greens? We don't eat greens every day, but at least 3-4 times a week. Thank You ## Hello, Mimi! How are you? Generally, you should avoid high amounts of any goods that contain a lot of vitamin K, such as spinach and dark leafy greens. I take Warfarin due to a history of DVTs, and I also suffer from depression and pretty significant anxiety (GAD). After trying other meds that didn't work, my Dr prescribed Cymbalta. Rxlist indicates a moderate interaction risk, and I saw one message board where people were sharing horror stories about mixing these meds, but the pharmacist said they're safe to use together. Does anyone here have experience with these drugs together? Did they do okay or were there problems? TIA ## Hello, My3sons! How are you? I haven't taken either one, but I can provide you information on the possible interaction. Taking them together could actually result in your needing a lower dose of Warfarin, because the Cymbalta tends to increase the levels of it. Other side effects for Cymbalta, as li...

If u take warfarin and take alot of roxys can it raise your inr level to the piont the inr level Can be dangerous ## Hello, Brown eyes! How are you? No, Oxycodone hasn't been known to do that, though it is recommended that a patients INR always be checked within a few days of starting any new medication, since there's no way to predict exactly how anyone may react to something. The FDA classifies Oxycodone as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Warfarin may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have they both been prescribed for you?
