Aside from vomiting, this medication is used (orally, rectally or intravenously,) generally to suppress nausea, or as a prokinetic agent. It has also been used to stimulate lactation, and has been found effective in the treatment of gastroparesis, a stomach motility condition.
Furthermore it can be used in patients with Parkinson's disease because, unlike metoclopramide, this medication does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
