False Positive Benzodiazepines

I have been taking suboxone for almost a year and had to move to a new doc. They drug tested me and said I tested positive for benzos. The funny thing is I have not taken ANY benzos. I have to go take another test today at 5 and I am scared s**tless cuz they said if benzos are still in my system then they can not see me. Knowing that I haven't taken any benzos makes me wonder if I might still test positive for it again. I did take some cough syrup and some percs but that is it. What could cause this?

i just took 3 ibuprophen 200 mg a pill and just took a saliva test a hour after i took them will i fail it please rest my mind

Ok, I smoke fake weed and it's called,supposing it's organic like it says, I used to smoke weed but stopped a long time ago, but that's another story, and I also take hydrocodon 10-325 on a regular basis, took a drug test for p.o and came up positive for benzos. I don't understand why?? Guy was all looking at me, like what else r u taking?? And I haven't took anything but I dunno??

This is an old post but I also had a false positive for thc and benzos for difloenac. They sent it out, came back fine.

My attorney said there is no such thing as "false positives" for any benzo's. He says this is all a myth! He said there is no such thing as "false positive" period. He said all this stuff on the internet about "false positives" are made up!

I agree & loved what you had to say. I am also on a methadone maintenance program. Haven't used in 7 years. Was informed today that I tested positive for opiates. All 13 of my takehome dosing priveleges are out the window & have no idea how I could've tested pos for ANYTHING.

I am on a variety of drugs, and I tested Positive for benzos at the PO's office. They sent it out to the lab for further testing. I have taken 40mg Oxycodone/day, Metaxalone 2400mg/day ,Tramadol 200mg/day, ketoprofen 225mg/day, prednisone 30mg/day clindamycin hcl 900mg/day. I also have taken benyldril at night and sometimes take omprazole 20mg for my stomach.. Now here is the kicker!!! I went in for oral surgery yesterday and they nocked me out.. I don't know what to think if you have any ideas let me know ASAP thanx...

I tested positive for diazepam on a toxicology drug screen(for a D.U.I.) and i do not take anything like that! Could zolpidem(ambien) cause a false positive for diazepam?

Hi. New to this site and glad I found it. Very helpful. I'm a junkie trying to get clean, yet again (33 and been off and on heroin and methadone clinics - more on the heroin than anything else - since I was 17). I live in Philly area, go to a clinic in DE and they refuse to take me higher than 30mgs till I either get them a script for benzos or go to detox to stop taking the benzos. I know me and that is a hopeless situation, the second. I will walk out and I know it - it's already in my mind...I can't deal with this 30mg crap. I can stop the coke. I can probably even stop f*ing around with the dope, IF and ONLY IF I have some benzos to get me through. Then they will up my dose. I'm not asking to be upped to like anything more than 60 right now, but I just need to be comfortable, b/c if you're a junkie like me, you know damn right well that at 3am and your legs are kickin' and crampin' and you feel like you have waves of bugs or something going up and down your back, no judge threatening to put you in jail (have that going on too - was in court yesterday...long story), no common sense is going to matter at that point...You NEED to get high. My WHOLE point in going back to the clinic about 2 weeks ago was because I have this court thing hanging over my head in which they are actually cutting me a break with 2 open cases for the SAME THING (got popped on a Thursday and barely was out of the roundhouse and ended back up in there on the following Monday for the same thing) and they are cutting me a break. In lieu of probation (which I know I will violate because, honestly, my heart isn't in it right now, doing it for all the wrong reasons), they are offering me some kind of deal where if I can show them that I am in treatment and provide them with a paper showing 3 clean urines, I'm done with them. Pretty nice considering that I have a rap sheet full of the same 2 charges dating back to '97 - 11 charges). Soooo, my question is, I've been hearing at my clinic that Klonopin's don't show up as benzos...Does anyone know that to be FACT?? Or is that just the BS stuff I hear every AM as I'm waiting in line...Secondly, and most imp., does anyone know of a doc in the Philly/Delco area who prescribes really any kind of benzo indiscriminately and who also is part of Keystone Mercy/Medicaid? I can change my doc easily. I'm going to try him today, but I don't know. Going in there with a bottle of Ativan's that the hospital I was just in sent me home with. If I had taken them as prescribed, they should've lasted me till 4/20 and I'm also going in with a clean urine from a friend and not even going to mention the methadone bit...Can anyone help me??? Does anyone know what I'm getting at? Please, help!!! Sorry so lengthy. Need to be very specific cuz I really can't stand being at 30mgs too much longer and if so, obviously, I'm going to supplement that with heroin and guess I should mention that I don't like to do heroin unless I'm shooting coke too, so that just makes for a great snag when they pull me in for a random some AM. And all I need is these benzos to stop all of that using to provide Philly courts with the 3 papers they need stating that I'm giving clean urines at the clinic blah blah blah, BUT I need a script - THEN, and ONLY then will the clinic raise my dose and the courts will be acceptable of that IF I have a script. Of course, if someone knows, say so and we can email as to not put some doc who's willing to be decent about things out on Front St. and ruin it for everyone. And please, don't anyone drop any AA/NA stuff on me...Not ready to be clean right now. If I get clean right now, I will kill myself because I won't be able to deal with the emotional pain I'm experiencing right now - lost parental rights 3 years ago and haven't been able to get an hour clean since. THANKS!!!!!

Hi, I am on oxycodone/acemetaphine but did not test positive for opiates, instead I tested positive for benzo's. These tests are being done through my urine at my p.o's office. I have not taken any benzo's for over a month which is when my script of diazapam ran out. I know this should not be in my system any more and the opiates should be showing up but aren't. Could there be a medical reason for this? Could my body be matabolizing the oxycodone differantly? They are talking about arresting me if I don't figure it out by wednesday and todays friday. Please help.

im in kinda the sam situation right now the only two things i take are prozac and OVC sleeping meds and i guess the sleeping meds can come up as benzos i would look up all the meds u take

Hey there..I too tested positive for Benzo's a few weeks ago, and although I denied using any they didn't believe me! The most frightening thing right now is that I have tested NEGATIVE for methadone in my last 3 urine tests! I drink my dose (50mg) Mon-Sat right in front of the Pharmacist, and carry Sunday dose. How is this happening??

Please tell me if I should go to er? I need to know since im a seizure risk he saw thc and wont write my suboxone what should I do? I have been on xanax for twenty years and he switched to klonopin n clonodine, causing bad things to happen and next visit did this cut off completely for thc. Will I die? Seize? Help please.

So my pain mgmt dr tested me n would not give me my suboxone for thc that I told him is there. He said here take clonodine for high blood pressure patients, I have low, twice a day and come pee in a week or two. I said im not drug rehab im pain mgmt I opt for sub myself n he said nope not writing it, I said how will I walk n moven not stroke out, he says dont go er theyl put u in icu for a wk. He wants another 200$ I said no way, he sed its illegal I said so is charging mesame as addict n pee test like addict but get no tests to check me no nothingbut my scripts n pay cash upfront not aftr seen. Hes risking me seizures n stroke, im on four a day n then wil b bam zero n thats scary. Go to er?

My wife and I both on long term methadone script tested positive last week for benzos. We do not use anything outside our scripts however the night before we both took nytol (diphenhydramine) which we had been told by key workers was ok. Bad enough we failed our clinic test but these results are also part of my wife's driving license renewal and could have catastrophic consequences. Early in this thread someone said nytol may be linked to false positives does anyone have any further details?. I looked on the diphenhydramine page that the post linked to but found no further reference. Thank you.

So let's say you've just tested positive for a benzo or anything else and you KNOW you haven't taken anything you weren't supposed to...just what you're prescribed and OTC meds. You always have the option of sending it off to another lab. Parole/Probation officers--they will send it to the main lab no prob. Most of the time employers will send it too. Most Drs do but some of them act like it's too much trouble. What I'm getting at is these people that administer the drug tests, they know absolutely nothing about the results. They are just reading the label. When it's sent to the lab, they actually break things down and get to the root of the issue. In my experience 9 outa 10 times the results come back CLEAN. So if you know there is nothing in your system that shoudn't be, I would raise hell until they send it off!!! Good luck ya'll

Thanks Jess..sounds like what is happening to me. .I take my test again on monday. I cant wait to prove them wrong and i hope they do send off my urine so they relize that stomach pills can do that..those jerks

I have been on suboxone for over a year for a huge narcotic addiction. Suboxone saved my life! My sister is in drug court ( a program you may be able to enroll in exchanged for a reduced sentence). Drug court participants get drug tested at least 4 or 5 times a week. My sis doesn't take anything illegally, failing a drug test could cause you to be kicked out of the program and returned back to jail for the rest of your time. Her urine screen just tested positive for benzos!! And she flipped out! They asked what she had taken and she said all she had taken was generic tagamet ( a heartburn pill you can buy anywhere). She gave her drug counselor the tagamet bottle with the remaining pills and they sent it to the main lab for further testing. Results came back, that it was the tagamet that caused her to test positive for benzos. They also said to be careful when taking stomach pills because several of them cause the same result. Have you taken anything like that? Hope this helps

Took a drug test at a temp employment place the other day and the 2nd line for methamphatamine (sp?) was positive. No big deal i told them it was probably my anxiety pill. Hell i dont know and wasent worried, I called them with the name & such when i got home. I also called my pharmacist to ask while waiting on them to answer me. The pharmacist said no that wont show up but have you taken any cold meds or cough syrup. I told her no not recent enough for this test. She then asked if i take stomach acid pills, ii said well yes i take one everyday. She asked what kind i said Zantac 150, she said that was it, it can show a false/positive. Thats wierd to me but hell i dont even know what methamphatamines are. I called the ppl back told them, they called back saying that wasent it according to their doctor& that i may have to retest. Heres all i take when i need to and that would have been in time for that drug test, but why would they keep telling me different than my pharmacy?? Ok i take weekly if not daily zantac150, Aleve, Mucinex, Allegra and my anxiety pill-generic for Celexa-citalopram. What is your opinion? Thanks

Sorry buddy. Taking clonazepam WILL show up as a benzo. It just takeslonger to be metabolisedand excreted. Most drugs actually take 4-8 hours beforethey will show up in urine.
