My adiction lead me to smoke 11 grams of herion a day with my soul mate.
After 2 yrs We had to get help and went into a methadone program. I was up to 70mg's. But when I could no longer pay there $250.00 month payment I was forced to do a finacial detox...WHICH WAS MY DEATH!I daily dropping 5 mgs made me so sick kicking but I could'nt miss my daddys funeral. Iluvudad!
The next day I got help from my sister who got me back into the methadone clinic and the dr. held me at 40 mg. holding at 40 for 3 months and once again I could not pay so they detoxed me from 40mg all in a 21 day period.
Well 21 days went and left and 4 days later I'm on the streets buying 5mg methadone tablets 3 bucks a pop . Now I'm on 10mg tablets which were bought offf st's .
So who ever said it was mind over matter . I SAY NOT!

hey been there done that. methadone is one of if not the hardest drug to detox from. I am 22 days clean rom fifthteen months of methadone maint. I tried several times to taper down from my 90 mg dose. Just going down 10 mg made me have awful anxiety, I finally went to a ten day detox and am now completely off the evil shit. I am araid to tell you that detoxing in a controlled enviroment with a docs care may be your only hope.

The biggest drawback of Methadone treatment is that most people end up addicted to it and have to take a lifetime maintenance dose.

What you may want to look into instead is Suboxone, which contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine. This is an opiate which has proven to help many people completely beat the drug addictions and end up drug free.

You can read more about it here:

http://www.prescriptiondrug-info.com/drug_details.asp?title=Suboxone&page=1003573&ad=true

If you want to see if there is a doctor in your area who offers treatment, you can check at:

suboxone is a miracle and whoever created it needs a medal. my partner and I are going to live thanks to this wonder drug and 11 grams is what it was created for it will stop the addiction in its tracks, we were doing anywhere from three to four 20's a day, one pill for two days then half for two days now a quater of a pill for four days and I dont need it at all this morning ... I feel awesome and I dont hurt at all. Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Ella Lynda...Where do you live that the methadone program costs so much? Have you tried getting Medicade? I don't know what State you live in but there are new laws now that make it a lot harder for clinics to feetox you for a few bucks. It is rare, but people have died from methadone withdrawls. I would try to find a clinic that is more commpassionate, and costs less. I would say suboxone maybe the way to go, but to tell you the truth, I have never heard of anyone coming off of an 11 gram heroin habit and even being able to maintain on 90mg of methadone, so suboxone would be like bubble gum for you. Are you certain you mean 11mg of heroin? That is either bad dope or something 11mg is more than I have heard of anyone doing.. I did half that much and I didn't get clean until my methadone dose went to 160mg..Maybe smoking it is a lot different than shooting it, I just don't know, but whatever you do, please make sure to get back on a MMT program...If you have anymore questions or need to talk please post again, ok??

To CrisseyB..Why do you say that methadone is evil? Methadone is an opiate PERIOD. Please don't scare people by demonizing a medication that has saved countless lives. If it isn't for you, fine, but methadone made my life worth living again, and that is not evil..Also I have many firends who have tapered off of methadone THE RIGHT WAY and they went through some discomfort, but they wern't suffering at all. My ex said his worst part was catching a cold for the first time in years, and he didn't sleep for a few weeks, other than that, he has been drug free since Jan 1. 1997....Took him one year from start to finish, You must have come off too fast or your clinic doctor didn't give you anything to help you taper with which is too bad, it could have been painless, BTW, 22 days congratulations!! Do you feel ok? Any PAWS?? I think it would help a lot of people if you posted your experiences here to give others who are trying to taper insperation. As long as you stick to what your body is going through and not scaring people away
