I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken of

Accutane Effects After 20 Plus Years...Destruction! Filed in Accutane
I Took Accutane ore than 20 years ago...for moderate Acne..... I Experienced the so called Usual Side effects...Dry Lips chapped lips and joint pain..along with severely irritated Stomach...(Sudden allergy to Diary)and other Problems I was ASSURED would subside...as soon as i stopped taking the ACCUTANE... Well....Lets just say....The effects do gradually subside....and the Acne is better..... Something else I discovered is.....Slowly....The Joint pain returns...only much more severely...the Stomach problems get worse...and eventually your stomach might even begin to bleed...and feel as though it was burned by acid..... ok so im 30 years old, i have bad acne face and my back since being 14, tryed every antibiotic n lotions n potions but nothing worked. been under the demertology for years getting MESSED about, couldnt get prescription so took matters in to my own hands and bought on line from us. they arrived in red blister packets in envelope, been taking for 1 month now no serious side effects as yet except very dry lips, had no major breakouts so so good so far :)

my mother age is approx 68 year, having blood urea 153 serium creatine 2.2 she is diabetic past one month taking insulin human insuline 50/50 now she is taking humaninsulin 30/70 dossage 12 at morning and 8 at night..due to sudden changes in urea having complete body itching .. pls suggest us, doctor prescribed medicine nefrosave at morning time 1 tab. shall be start the medicine need your help currently she is having major proble, itching , skin doctor prescriped one of medicine 1. spectra 10 mg, we gave two dossage which creat a problem face puffing, and more itching not able to sleep so we stop that medicine. and once reaction happend we have given anothe medicine which sam doctor prescribed for a day time mebryal25 mg. i have repited after 6 hr, some how she is ok... need your ipinion, pls

I am currently a 17 year old male and senior in highschool, and suffered from acne for over 5 years. In 8th grade acne started invading my face. Freshman year it continued, and would not go away. We tried creams, pills just about anything you could possibly try. My sophmore year is when it erupted. Acne started forming on my back and chest, and I literally had boils on my back and chest. It was very painful. I also play football, and it hurt very bad to put on my shoulder pads, and the embarassment to even take my shirt off in the locker room after practice. It caused me a lot of stress. It hurt to take showers because the water would hit these boils. I had cystic acne. I had over 15 large pimples/boils on my back and chest both. This continued for another year. As I still tried creams, and pills nothing helped. Finally me and my mother went to the derm and they perscribed me with accutane for 6 months. It was the best decision of my life so far. In the first 3 or 4 months I didnt noti

I am currently debating whether or not to have my son start taking this drug. He is an athlete Basketball, football and baseball and I heard there is a lot of joint pain with this medication. He is 15 and I do not want to feel that giving the Dermatologist permission to prescribe this pill will later in life ruin his athletic potential. I have read the "possible side effects" however we have tried several things and this would be our last resort. I feel that my son is self conscience last year he did not want to swim, the acne is starting to scar his back, shoulders, and face. What else can I possibly do except allow him to try absorica? I'm just so concerned about the side effects. What are really the percentages of side effects in people? i.e. joint pain, depression, etc.

No matter what I did, nothing helped until I started using Accutane. I am fully aware that this is a serious drug, and is the last resort for acne problems. The side affects are clearly listed on various websites and on the Accutane prescription itself. I knew the potential health risks and what I was getting myself into. Those who choose to take Accutane are usually warned by doctors and I also would think one would do serious research before taking this drug. It is very unfortunate that people are suing the drug companies that produce Accutane. I don't think it's fair for the rest of us who are getting successful results. I'm afraid that if too many people sue, then Accutane will no longer be available for retail in the US. Accutane is not the only drug with serious side affects. You do not have to take
