Long Term Use Of Atenolol
Monday, 3/15/2010 3:58:52 AM in Atenolol
Eight years back, while commuting to my work place(40 km's away) by a train, I suddenly got fatigued and caught a blackout while getting up from my seat. A friend of mine immediately rushed me to a near by Doctor, who after checking my BP(180/120) prescribed Atenolol and some sedatives to me He said that I have to take Atenolol for whole life, and I am following the same. Will somebody guide me , whether I am doing the right thing or must I take a second opinion now after getting checked my heart's functioning. I don't have any trouble with my heart but if anyday due to oversight I forget to take the medicine, I feel uneasiness in my head.I feel I have become addictive to this drug. Pl. help

Could It Be An Alergic Reaction?
Saturday, 3/13/2010 6:55:44 PM in Lisinopril
I too use Lisinopril-HCTZ.
I resently had a reaction but I am not sure to what. It seems to happen more in warmer weather. Both my thumbs hurt. Because I am used to pain I can ignore it accept when having to use them to open something up. Along with the pain I had localized rashes on my hands where the pain in my thumbs were. It also discolored my skin. I went to dermatologists that have know idea what it was. Now that it is cooler the rash has subsided although the discoloration is still there ever so slightly and the pain in far less. The discoloration is light with dark spots. The reason I am writing is that I have read that other people seem to have pain in their thumbs when taking this drug. Please get back to me if buzzare things like this has happened to you taking this drug. Also, I am interested in knowing if anyone has gained weight from taking this drug. Because of the way insurance companies are today, only giving the doctors x amount of time with patients I find that speaking to others that take the drug is far more beneficial. Perhaps together we can come up with more structured data then our doctors.

Lisinopril---norvasc

I am concerned about taking both prescriptions, as I am tired all the time. I tell my Dr., but he says if it keeps the pressure down keep taking them. Just wondered if I am the only one out there feeling this way.

Metoprolol & Hair Loss
Tuesday, 2/9/2010 1:20:49 PM in Metoprolol
I have been taking 200 mg. a day for about 4 years. I thought it was a coincidence that I've lost 50% of my hair during this time because I am also going through menopause. I just found out that it is possible the hair loss is caused by metoprolol, so my doctor just wrote me a RX for a different drug. Will my hair grow back? It was very long, down to my waist, but I've been cutting it to compensate for the thinness. I just touch my head and lose a few hairs! Any ideas?
