i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and xcercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol. i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred. is this withdrawal? how long will it last? i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Extreme Salty Taste in Mouth for 20 days! Filed in Lisinopril
I'm a 51 yr. old female who woke up on April 7, 2011, with an extremely salty taste in my mouth. When I tried to drink water to wash it out, it was like drinking salt gargle water. Nothing I eat or drink makes it go away. I can't stand to put anything in my mouth that is salty because the salt taste already in my mouth makes it almost unswallowable. Prior to that day, I have only 2 regular medications that I take daily: Lisinopril 40 mg( increased from 20 mg in mid November) for high BPas well as HCTZ 25 mg(been taking Lisinopril for 8 years) and 1mg of ropinorole(generic for Requip) for RLS (taking for almost 6 years). I also take black cohosh twice a day for hot flashes and night sweats(last menstrual cycle was Sept. 2010). On March 18, I started taking a 10 day prescription for NOHIST for a sinus inflammation, as well as FLONASE and a cough medicine. I had taken both the Flonase and cough medicine years previously, but had never had the NOHIST before. I finished the NOHIST and

Tight and Numb on Metoprolol Filed in Metoprolol
Metoprolol Tartrate low dose, but very TIGHT face, neck, head muscles, often coupled with NUMB face and jaw, for hours at a time, sometimes all day and night --- side effects due to the metoprolol? I'm also suffering from tight chest muscles, but often for just a half hour to an hour at a time and feeling that it's hard to breathe / shallow breath (but not sure if the muscle tightness is the cause of the breathing difficulty). Again, might these be side effects? NOTE: It's entirely possible that, instead, I'm simply suffering more and more from weird undiagnosable nerve problems, but I'm worried of course that it could be the medicine, not the condition. BTW, the med is very good at lowering my Blood Pressure.

I started Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg being one tab every 12 hours. I was in the hospital with pressure of 200/130 , sometimes higher with high pulse and irregular heartbeat. I experienced tightening in chest, slight difficulity in breathing, and extreme variables in my pressures. Most of the time they are in the normal range, but occasionally my systolic has dropped under 100 and my diastolic was 58. I am monitoring my foods and am also taking Ativan twice daily. I am terrified. Anybody else have these variables in pressures.? I have only been on the medicines for four weeks now. I have had diabetes and thyroid neg testing. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder??? Never heard of it before. All my family including five sibbkings have high blood pressure as well.

Severe itching sensation Filed in Lisinopril
I am taking Lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide 10-12.5. I have been taking it for about 1 yr now. Over the last few month, when I get heated and sweat, I get a severe itching sensation over my entire body. Almost unbearable, but it subsides when I cool down. Could this be a side effect of this medication.

Clonidine withdrawal & Tolerance Filed in Clonidine
I am taking Clonidine for an off label use to treat Bruxism(teeth clenching at night). Currently 0.2mg just at night ,but considering trying 0.3mg. My questions are 1) I've heard some people develop a tolerance to Clonidine after taking it for a longtime(so it becomes ineffective and the dose must be increased or treatment stopped). How long can I take before I should take a break ,so I don;t develop this tolerance? 2) If I take 0.3mg and then want to stop taking it , if i reduce my dose by 0.05(half a tablet) every 3-4 days should that avoid rebound hypertension ? My doctor said withdrawal and tolerance are not problems at all so i can stop cold when i want, but don;t think it is a drug she has experience prescribing (only prescribed it as I suggested trying it ,from studies I had seen regarding bruxism). Any advice would be great , as I am taking this medication but pretty much in the dark how to use it safely!!!!
